Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you", "your") and URBAN STUDIO ("URBAN STUDIO", "we", "us", or "the Platform") governing your access to and use of the website at demonetization.org and the related services. By creating an account, signing the petition, or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

2. About the Platform

URBAN STUDIO is an independent, non-commercial initiative that supports creators of audiovisual content who have been affected by automated demonetisation, restriction, or termination decisions on YouTube. The Platform coordinates a collective petition, allows affected creators to submit their case for manual verification, and amplifies verified cases on its own communication channels.

URBAN STUDIO is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by YouTube LLC, Google LLC, X Corp., or any of their subsidiaries. Names, trademarks, and logos of third parties belong to their respective owners and are used only for descriptive purposes.

3. Eligibility

You may use the Platform only if you are at least sixteen (16) years old and able to form a legally binding contract under the law of your jurisdiction. By using the Platform you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. If we discover that an account belongs to a user under 16, we will delete that account without delay.

4. Account Registration and Security

Certain features (signing the petition, submitting a channel, opening a support ticket, participating in the chat) require an account. You may register with an email address and password, or by signing in with X (Twitter) OAuth. You agree to:

  • provide accurate, current, and complete information when you register;
  • keep that information up to date;
  • maintain only one personal account;
  • keep your password and any session tokens confidential and not share them with anyone;
  • notify us immediately at support@demonetization.org if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

5. User Content and Licence

"User Content" means anything you submit to the Platform, including channel information, screenshots, links, descriptions, appeals, support messages, and chat messages. You retain all ownership rights you previously held in your User Content. By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

  • you are the owner of the relevant YouTube channel(s) and other materials, or you have the legal right to share them;
  • the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
  • your User Content does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.

You grant URBAN STUDIO a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (only to the extent necessary for display), and review your User Content for the purpose of operating the Platform. For User Content that is part of a case which has been manually verified and which you have submitted for publication, you additionally grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish that content on official URBAN STUDIO channels and in formal communications with YouTube or competent regulators, solely to support the initiative. The licence is limited to the purposes stated here.

You may revoke the publication licence at any time by deleting your account or by writing to support@demonetization.org; we will remove the relevant material from URBAN STUDIO channels going forward, although we cannot guarantee removal from third-party copies, archives, or screenshots already taken by others.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • submit false, misleading, fabricated, or fraudulent information;
  • impersonate another person or claim ownership of a channel you do not own;
  • use the Platform to harass, threaten, defame, or harm any other user, creator, or third party;
  • upload malware, harmful code, or any content that violates applicable law;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform, its accounts, its infrastructure, or its data;
  • scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Platform without our prior written consent;
  • interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, moderation, or performance of the Platform;
  • infringe any intellectual-property right or any other right of a third party;
  • use the Platform for any unlawful or otherwise improper purpose.

We may, at our discretion, remove User Content that violates these Terms, suspend or terminate offending accounts, and report serious violations to the competent authorities.

7. Verification, Publication, and Moderation

Channel verification is carried out manually by members of the URBAN STUDIO team. We review the materials you submit, decide whether the case meets our verification criteria, and reserve the right to:

  • request additional evidence;
  • decline verification at our discretion, with or without explanation;
  • remove a previously verified case if new information shows the original submission was inaccurate or misleading;
  • moderate, hide, or delete any chat message that violates these Terms.

Verification is a good-faith assessment of the materials provided to us. It is not a legal determination, and it does not create any obligation on YouTube, Google, or any third party to act in any particular way.

8. Intellectual Property

The Platform, its design, code, text, graphics, logos, and the URBAN STUDIO name and branding are owned by URBAN STUDIO or its licensors and are protected by intellectual- property laws. Except for the limited rights granted to you to use the Platform under these Terms, no other rights are granted. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Platform without our prior written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that:

  • the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times;
  • signing the petition, submitting a channel, or filing an appeal will produce any particular outcome, including the restoration of monetisation, the reinstatement of a channel, or any specific action by YouTube or by any other third party;
  • any third-party content or link will remain available.

Nothing in this section limits or excludes any warranty that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable consumer-protection or other law.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, URBAN STUDIO and the people involved in operating the Platform shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer based in the European Union or the European Economic Area, your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected by these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Platform at any time and delete your account by writing to support@demonetization.org. We may suspend or terminate your access — temporarily or permanently — if you breach these Terms, if your continued use poses a risk to the Platform or its users, or if we are required to do so by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where reasonably possible, notify registered users by email or through a notice on the Platform at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Platform and may close your account.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws applicable at the seat of operation of URBAN STUDIO, without prejudice to mandatory rules of consumer-protection law in your country of habitual residence.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also retain your right to bring proceedings before the courts of your habitual residence, and to use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Before bringing any formal dispute, we encourage you to contact us at support@demonetization.org so we can try to resolve the matter amicably.

14. Miscellaneous

These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy) form the entire agreement between you and URBAN STUDIO regarding the Platform. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign these Terms to any third party without our prior written consent.
